City Recycling

Have your recycling and trash out on your appointed day by:

  • 6 a.m. June 1st to Sept 30th and 7:30 a.m. the rest of the year

 

All items must be separated.  Use extra containers if necessary.  You may use bags or boxes as an extra containers.  If not separated, your recycling will not be picked up.

 

Recycle Bins are available for $12.50 and lids are $5.00.

  • You may use Storage Totes, Laundry Baskets, Small Trash Cans

 

Aluminum Cans all types of aluminum
Newspaper Daily issues with color coated inserts and advertising issues like the Star Shopper. Take out of plastic bags. DO NOT PUT OUT NEWSPAPER IN RAIN
Cardboard Corrugated boxes, packing paper, paper bags, and gray chipboard such as cereal boxes. Remove liners from boxes.
Glass The City no longer picks up glass curbside, but glass can still be taken to the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District just West of Prairie Grove on Bond Road. 
Mix

Magazines, junk mail, envelopes with windows, TV Guides, telephone books, manila envelopes, office paper.  Shredded paper must be bagged.

Plastics # is on the bottom of the bottle in a triangle.

Plastic - Bottles ONLY

#1  Plastic -  Soda Bottles and Water Bottles. Must be rinsed out and lids removed

#2 Plastic - Milk Jugs, Detergent Bottles, and Bleach Bottles. Must be rinsed out and lids removed.

Soft Plastics Such as Wal-Mart bags and newspaper bags
Steel Cans #2 Plastic - Milk Jugs, Detergent Bottles, and Bleach Bottles. Must be rinsed out and lids removed.
Styrofoam We Do Not accept styrofoam for recycling

 

Material to be picked up must be clean.

Must be organized in your bin, cannot be mixed. Glass, plastic and cans must be rinsed out. Failure to do so will result in recycling being refused.
